Hapag-Kapwa

2020 was one of the toughest years for fisherfolks in Caramoan, Camarines Sur. Majority of them, if not all, are relying on seaweed farming and tourism for their livelihood.

Under Hapag-Kapwa, our goal is to support farmers and fisherfolk by helping them put food back on their tables and rebuild for their trade. In partnership with Agrabah Ventures, an end-to-end agritech start-up, we aim to support seaweed farmers and their families with relief packs (e.g. rice, vegetables, etc.) and tools for their livelihood (e.g. initial planting implants).

Since its creation in February 2021, we have raised more than Php 280,000 for seaweed farmers. Together with our 40+ partners, we have turned over flip flops, food packs, goggles, nylon rope, motors, and seaweed propagules for hundreds of seaweed farmers.

Accessible Assistance Alliance

Project Smile PH Our Campaigns

When the pandemic struck, we all shifted to a digital way of life. However, this adjustment is not easy for children with disabilities (CWDs). With therapy centers closed and physical interventions hindered, getting access to treatment is more challenging than ever.

To help address this, Project SMILE and TheraWee—a community and platform for teletherapy—formed the Accessible Assistance Alliance. This partnership aims to help connect therapists to CWDs and their parents for remote therapy and guidance.

Since its launch in September 2020, we have raised more than Php 620,000 to sponsor the teletherapy of 150+ financially challenged CWDs across the Philippines. In the process, we have also crafted 70+ sets of posters relevant to the PWD community, partnered with 60+ organizations, and co-organized 30+ webinars.

Special School Aid

Project Smile PH Our Campaigns

With the school year starting, children with special needs are getting back to learning too.

To help equip them with the supplies they’ll need to study and hone their skills, we launched Special School Aid as part of our #LikeAllKids campaign. We believe children with disabilities (CWDs) are just like other kids, who grow and develop well when provided with the right support.

In two months, we were able to raise ₱110,000+ which we used to put together back-to-school kits containing school supplies and hygiene essentials for 1,019 CWDs.

Let the Love Flow

Project Smile PH Our Campaigns

As part of the #PeopleWith campaign, we participated in a blood letting activity called Let the Love Flow. We partnered with Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay for a blood drive at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan. In this event, members and volunteers had an opportunity to meet PWDs who are also active in humanitarian work.

By doing this, we were able to show that PWDs are capable of not just being independent, but also being socially responsible citizens. Truly, it was an eye-opening activity for the entire organization and gave us inspiration in carrying out our other initiatives.

Sto. Niño Home for the Aged

Sto. Niño Home for the Aged is a private facility that assists elderly and disabled adults with daily living activities. It provides elder care, personal care, and companion care to these individuals so that they may live with as much independence and dignity as their condition allows.

We organized a Christmas party for roughly 30 individuals based in this institution. Thanks to the help of McDonald’s and the support of our friends and family, we were able to spend an eventful afternoon full of good food and loads of laughs with our lolos and lolas.
